Maria joined in 2003 the Research Laboratory for Internet Computing - LINC (formerly High Performance Computing Systems Laboratory), of the Department of Computer Science at the University of Cyprus.
She is Laboratory and Project Manager, responsible for the coordinated management of activities of multiple research projects co-funded by the European Commission under the various Framework and Programmes: SEARCHiN (Marie Curie), EGI-InSPIRE, EGEEIII (FP7), EGEEI-II (FP6), HEALTHWARE (FP6), g-Eclipse (FP6), CoreGrid (FP6), CrossGrid (FP5), EMISPHER (Eumedis), Safeweb (Safer Internet).
Research interests include Databases, Real-Time Telemedicine Systems, Collaborative eLearning and Languages Acquisition.
Maria holds a M.Sc. in Database Systems from the University of Westminster (UK) and a MA in Applied Linguistics - teaching Spanish as a second language from the University of Antonio Nebrija (Spain).
