Marios D. Dikaiakos is Professor and Chairman of the Computer Science, Department University of Cyprus, Nicosia, Cyprus. He is also Founding Director of the Laboratory for Internet Computing. Dikaiakos received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Princeton University (1994), an M.A. in Computer Science degree from Princeton (1991), and a Dipl.-Ing. Degree in Electrical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (summa cum laude, 1988). Professor Dikaiakos was a Research Associate at the University of Washington in Seattle (1994-1995) and spent a pre-doctoral internship at the Paris Research Lab of Digital Equipment Corporation (fall 1991). He has also held visiting positions at the Department of Computer Science, University of Crete (Oct. 2004) and the Department of Computer Science, Rutgers University (Spring 2005).

Professor Dikaiakos’ research interests focus on Internet Computing with a particular interest in large-scale, network-centric systems, such as Grids, Clouds, the World-Wide Web, and Vehicular Ad-Hoc Networks (VANET). Recent research interests focus on software retrieval and structured-data searching services in Cloud infrastructures and Web 2.0 environments. His research work includes over 150 scientific publications in books, journals and international conference proceedings, such as ACM TOIT, IEEE TKDE, IEEE JSAC, ACM TAAS, IEEE TITB, IEEE/ACM Grid, CCGrid, IEEE/WIC/ACM WI, the editing of books and conference proceedings, and the direction of research projects at the University of Cyprus with a total budget exceeding 3 million euros for the period 2000-2012.

Dikaiakos has served as Chair, Vice-Chair, and Member of the Scientific Committees of numerous international conferences, as reviewer in scientific journals, as evaluator in research proposals funded by the E.U. and national research foundations in Europe, and as independent observer of research proposal evaluation exercises organized by the E.U. Professor Dikaiakos was the National Representative of the Republic of Cyprus to the Managing Committee of the Information Societies and Technologies program of the European Union (Fifth Framework Program, 2000-2002), a member of the Board of Advisors of the National Library of Cyprus (2010-2012), and is a member of the High-Level Consulting Committee for the Information Society of the Republic of Cyprus (2012). He is also a Distinguished Speaker of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and founding Chairman of ACM Cyprus. He is Chartered Engineer, a Senior Member of the ACM, and member of the Computer Society of ΙΕΕΕ, USA.
