About International Conferences of Data Protection and Privacy Commissioners.

The International Data Protection and Privacy Commissioners Conference, which is the most important international meeting devoted to data protection and privacy, was established in 1979 and convenes once a year. In recent years, the Conference has grown into a one week event, comprising an Open Session accessible to all privacy professionals, a Closed Session only accessible to data protection and privacy authorities, as well as several side meetings organized by international and non-governmental organizations. In 2011, it was decided that the Closed Session would form the main part of the Conference. It is left up to the discretion of the Hosting Authority – elected in the previous year by the membership of the Conference – to organize an Open Session as well. During the International Conference, all issues related to data protection and privacy can be discussed.

Decision on granting to the Inspector General for Personal Data Protection the status of the host of the 35th International Conference was taken at the 34th International Conference of Data Protection and Privacy Commissioners, which took place in October 2012 in Uruguay.

The Conference will be held on 23-26 September 2013 in Warsaw.
